Vishek Chauhan

Fourth-Generation Cinema Exhibitor

Vishek Chauhan is a fourth-generation cinema exhibitor and the CEO of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar.

His family's connection with cinema dates back to 1960, when Roopbani Cinema became part of Purnia's cinematic landscape.

Today, Chauhan carries that legacy forward while navigating the changing world of theatrical exhibition — and wrote Cinemas Forever to record what that resilience looked like.

WHY THE BOOK

Cinema has survived before.

Every generation has predicted the end of the movie theatre.

Television would kill it. VCRs would kill it. DVDs would kill it. Streaming would kill it.

Cinemas Forever follows that pattern through the eyes of someone whose family has been on the other side of it for four generations — from the first cinema in Purnia in 1960 to the streaming era and two pandemics.
